For the entire month of April, Mountain Avenue Market will have a Perennial Plant Swap table in front of the Mountain Market Store. Bring plants and take plants; what could be better?!
What is a perennial plant swap table you may ask?
It is the COVID-safe version of a plant swap, specific to perennial plants. You don’t have to bring plants to the plant swap table to take a couple plants. EVERYONE is welcome to a few plant friends, just please BE RESPECTFUL and only take a couple each visit (depending what is on the table at the time).
When is it?
From April 1st until April 30th. Please note this is an ongoing “event”, some days there will be lots of plants and some days there won’t be any. Keep coming back to check on the table and keep bringing plants from your own garden to share with the community if you have them!
Where is it?
The table will be located in front of Mountain Avenue Market in Fort Collins, Colorado. For address and directions, click HERE. We do have a loading zone in front of the store, so feel free to park there to drop off plants! The table and plants will be brought inside the store when we are CLOSED. Please only drop off/pick up plants during our open hours. Store hours HERE!
How it works:
- Local gardeners who want to participate can divide and/or dig up perennial plants from their gardens.
- Put them into a pot they don’t mind parting with (we will have a bin of plastic plant pots for folks to take or folks can leave extra pots they may have).
- Label the plants, with the plant name at the very least, but any additional information on each pot may be appreciated by whoever takes the plant home.
- Leave your plants on the perennial plant swap table.
- Check out what plants other folks have left on the table and take anything home that makes you happy!
- Depending on how many plants are on the table at any given time, we want each gardener to limit themselves to only taking THREE or less plants each visit. Please be respectful and make sure others get the opportunity to get some plants too!
- Mountain Avenue Market staff will water our perennial plant friends until they find a new home.
- The table will only be out during our open hours and will be locked inside during closed hours. Please do not drop off plants when we are closed!
