We all know one. That off-the-beaten-trail coffee shop that’s a little weird and a lot of wonderful. Every city has them. Here’s a list of some of my favorite indie coffee shop in Fort Collins:
Harbinger Coffee
Exotic, exquisite, and intoxicating; coffee can be a life changing experience. Harbinger Coffee is dedicated to that experience, and to showcasing some of the finest coffees from around the world.
Outstanding beverages are only allowed to truly shine when paired with equally outstanding service. We aim to be the very best at all that we do, including our approach to hospitality.
Jonathan Jarrow founded Harbinger Coffee in 2012 with these values at its heart. A small, simple coffee cart serving beautifully crafted pour overs quickly grew with the support of customers.
A coffee shop, a sanctuary, a living room, an art gallery, a workspace, an event venue, a community space, a gathering place…Everyday Joe’s is many things to many fine people. At the heart of all of it is hospitality, extended to whoever walks through the door by the family of volunteers who power the place. They have coffee in their blood, art in their eyes, service in their hearts, and can’t wait to meet you.
Bindle Coffee exists to provide a space and environment that gives people room to breathe, to dream and to enjoy beautiful food & coffee. Bindle is the forging of artistry and ritual. It is restorative and comforting. It is handmade. Sit & Savor.
THE COFFEE // Coffee begins its journey long before we drink it. It’s a wanderer in a sense, making it’s way into the homes and lives and millions of people around the world. We at Bindle care about where it is from and how it has been treated. We roast it the to the best of our abilities, hoping to bring out aromas and tastes that do it justice. We treat the farmers well, because they treat the coffee well. They won’t settle for mediocrity. Yhey care about the coffee, because they care about ALL the people involved in producing it & consuming it. There aren’t any gimmicks. it’s coffee- pure, simple & delicious.
Mugs was founded in 2002 by McCabe Callahan with the desire to do something innovative in Fort Collins. After traveling abroad he saw an opportunity to open the first wireless Internet cafe in Fort Collins in August of 2002. Building every shop with his own two hands because of a passion to pour his blood sweat and tears in to the shops, McCabe continues to operate Mugs along side his wife Marli who currently manages the operation. Since opening, Mugs has served millions of cups of coffee in Fort Collins to new and repeat customers every day trying to be better than the day prior.
They strive to provide a welcoming. environment, delicious high quality products and day-altering customer service in hopes of being a place people love to visit. Our goal is to try and have people leave somehow more fulfilled then when they came in. They try whenever feasible to do the right thing when it comes to local product and produce, organic, fair trade, responsible waste management, and how they treat people.
They offer two roasts of drip coffee, as well as a myriad of espresso drinks such as specialty lattes and mochas. Also, an extensive offering of artisan chais and teas, smoothies, hot chocolate, and more!
Try one of their “Crooked Specialities” like: The Crooked Salty, The Crooked Gorilla, The Crooked Leprechaun. Each a unique drink with lots of flavor. Fixed as hot, iced, or blended!
The Crooked Cup is proud to be unique in that along with their coffee service they also offer a full bakery. Fresh baked offerings include cinnamon rolls, many varieties of muffins and cupcakes, and, of course, KOLACHES.
For breakfast, try a Kolache: a puff pastry stuffed with egg and cheese, bacon or sausage. They also have a ham, jalapeno and cheddar kolache or veggie; mushroom, spinach, tomato, and white american cheese, kolache. Try a bagel breakfast sandwich, or one of their six delicious lunch sandwiches.
